What is Microblading?

Microblading (also known as Micropigmentation, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows) is the process of manually implementing color pigment beneath the skin’s surface, into the epidermis, by means of tiny, sterile disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes. It is a semi-permanent tattoo, governed by the safety and qualifications of each state.

Is Microblading painful?

Discomfort varies among clients, as each person has a different level of sensitivity. We apply a topical numbing anesthetic prior to and during the procedure. Every effort is made to keep clients comfortable for the duration. Clients are usually pleased to find that it is no more painful than tweezing or threading the brows. Strict adherence to treatment Pre-Procedure instructions (see Pre-Procedure sheet in our Forms section) minimizes bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service, which will dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor retention. Following these guidelines also contributes to a more comfortable appointment experience.

How long does each appointment take?

Initial appointments are 2 -2 ½ hours, depending on client’s brows and level of change. 4-6 week Touch Up appointments are 2 hours. Annual Touch Up’s are 2-2 ½ hours.

What does the healing process entail?

It is normal to experience minor swelling and tenderness immediately following the procedure. This usually subsides within a few hours. For the week after your treatment, your eyebrow pigment will appear darker and more intense than when healed. By Week 2 the skin begins to exfoliate, with pigment gradually fading and appearing uneven. Between Weeks 4-6 the skin will complete its healing process, resulting in an even, more visible pigment. At this point, a Touch Up session is necessary to achieve the full depth of color, symmetry and eyebrow shape density. Everyone heals differently, and your protocol is designed with that in mind.

Who should NOT have Microblading done?

Those with a history of heart ailments, taking prescription blood thinners, and women pregnant or nursing are not candidates for Microblading. In the state of North Carolina, is illegal to perform Microblading on anyone under 18 years of age. A complete contraindication and precaution list is available in our Forms section on our website.

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo. Retention varies with each person and pigment fades over 12-24 months. An annual Touch Up helps maintain brows and keep them looking their best. Final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigment differently and fade at different rates. We will evaluate your skin’s pigment retention at your Touch Up appointment, making any changes, if necessary.

What factors affect Microblading results?

Bleeding during procedure can reduce the amount of pigment absorbed. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, ibuprofen, and aspirin for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. For best results, avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 15 days prior to procedure. For complete Pre-Procedure instructions, please see our Forms section. Sunscreen worn daily (after healing) and a limit on sun exposure will prolong your results. A lighter or blonde pigment may fade faster than those with brunette and darker brows. Oilier skin types tend to have a lower rate of retention, and may require semi-annual touch ups to maintain best results.

What is the Aftercare protocol for Microblading?

Please see our complete Aftercare instructions in the Forms section on our website. For best results, strict adherence to these instructions should be followed. Do not rub or pick your brows as they are healing, as pigment will fade prematurely, and in some cases, scarring may result.

What is our Microblading Pricing?

Our price for Microblading is $450-600, depending on amount of existing brow and changes desired. Your specific price will be agreed upon at consultation, and prior to procedure being performed. Price includes both your initial appointment and Touch Up 4-6 weeks later.
